Quick Episode 56 Update

This isn’t a full episode. Just a quick update to let you know there won’t be a new episode this week. Instead, enjoy this oldie but goodie; Episode 13: Navigating the Inevitable Layoffs with Kasey Randall. Enjoy!

It’s time for turkey, and I’m taking the week off!

What’s up UX fam? It’s Thanksgiving week here in the States, which means by the time this episode is out I should be just arriving back home in New Orleans, I’m probably on my way to Rocky and Carlos down in the parish to get myself a foot-long shrimp po boy, a side of Mac and cheese with red gravy, and an ice cold Abita Amber.

That means there’s no new episode this week. But I’m reaching back into the archives to an episode I did last year with my buddy Kasey Randall, Episode 13. Navigating the Inevitable Layoffs. It’s been happening a lot since we released that episode, and unfortunately for all of us, I think it’s just as important now as ever.

But I’m really excited for next week’s episode with Anne Cantera. Anne is a chef turned UX designer, and she drops some knowledge about how working in restaurants is a lot like building great software.

And if you haven’t done it yet, make sure to binge the bear on Hulu over the holidays before next week. It’s seriously so good. You’ll thank me later.

So if you’re celebrating Thanksgiving this week I hope you don’t have to sit through too many conversations with your crazy conservative uncles talking about Donald Trump and Q Anon conspiracy theories. And if you do, well have another beer. You earned it.

Until next time remember you’re more than a designer because there is more to UX than design.

I’ll see you around. Take care y’all.

This week’s episode is brought to you by Jeff White’s Storytelling Toolkit.

Lots of people talk about the importance of storytelling for UX designers, but Jeff brings actionable clarity to the concept and shows exactly how to do it.

He breaks down different real-world scenarios like how to use different storytelling methods to present your work to clients and stakeholders, how to craft a better case study for your portfolio, and how to improve portfolio presentations for job interviews.
I love Jeff’s approach to storytelling here, it’s not your simple “once upon a time” stuff.
And since you’re an amazing listener and I know this course will help you out so much, I’ve partnered with Jeff to get my amazing listeners a 10% discount.
